Courtney Shorter, LCMHCA [she/her]
Hi, my name is Courtney (she/her), and it’s a pleasure to get to know you! Like many other Charlotteans, I am a transplant to this city that’s lived across the country throughout my life. Originally from St. Louis, MO, I relocated from St. Petersburg, FL where I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Florida State University and my Master of Science in Counseling from Nova Southeastern University, and have since to Charlotte in October 2025.
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHC-A) in North Carolina and work with children, adolescents, and adults from ages 9 and up. My biggest passion is supporting those navigating their identity — ranging from identity exploration to LGBT+ affirming care — and who are undergoing major life transitions that can occur in both expected ways like starting college and sudden drastic alterations like the loss of a loved one. I believe every person deserves a space where they feel genuinely seen, and I am committed to creating that for my clients so they can find the correct support needed for where they’re at in their life’s journey.
Clients will find that my clinical approach is eclectic. I integrate a person-centered foundation with somatic techniques, mindfulness, and evidence-based practices to most effectively meet you where you are. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, negative self-thoughts, ADHD, or simply the feeling that something needs to change, we’ll figure out the path forward together.
With our expertise, dedication, and trauma-informed approach, we’ll match you with an outstanding therapist who can meet you where you are in your journey.
